Great Maine Apple Display, October 25 2026
Another frigid morning. Is it already winter? Today was MOFGA’s annual Great Maine Apple Day. Several hundred apple enthusiasts gathered for an afternoon of tasting apples, attending workshops and demonstrations, checking out poster-displays, pressing cider, getting their mystery apples identified and about anything else you can think of that’s apple-related. It was a perfect way to spend a glorious, clear blue October day.
I spent most of the afternoon at a table attempting to identify apples. I was joined by a talented crew of fruit explorers featuring Todd Little-Siebold, Sean Turley, Laura Sieger, Skylar Bodeo-Lomicky and several College of the Atlantic students. We were busy all afternoon. At the end of the day, I left with over a hundred bags of apples still to be ID’ed - sign of a busy winter ahead.
