It’s peach-pickin’ time in Palermo. Today we picked the Reliance, most of the Lars Anderson and a few of the Red Haven. The Reliance are close to perfect. The Lars are starting to ripen, and the Red Haven will be ready by the end of the week. Despite several nights of -20F or colder last winter, we have a very decent crop this year. However, the white-fleshed Belle of Georgia did not fruit. The tree still looks good—only a bit of die-back—but no fruit.

With apologies to Merle Haggard:
It’s peach-picking time in Palermo
Apple-picking time soon to be
Tomato-picking time in the garden
But please don’t pick on me!
