Today Cammy and I sprayed the apples with Surround, Dipel, liquid fish, liquid kelp, karanja, effective microbes, and Neem. We only had time to do 150 gallons. It takes 200 to do the orchards. This combo will strengthen the apple trees while fending off the Curcs and deterring the young codling moth.
A Northern Waterthrush (Parkesia noveboracensis) appeared at the suet feeder outside our kitchen window this morning. It resembled some of the sparrows but was considerably larger than any sparrow I’ve ever seen. I used our old field guide to make the ID. Later Cammy said that the Merlin Bird sound App had identified the Northern Waterthrush here at the farm. So I was probably correct. Call me, “Mr. Bird Identifier” of the day.
