BEAGLE BITTER
This bittersweet cider apple from Dryden, NY was introduced by Mike Biltonen and Jason Mannka. The small (2”), roundish, yellow fruit ripens in mid-October in the Finger Lakes area of NY which would be about the same as central Maine. Recommended for fermented cider. Beagle Bitter is untested at SCF, but we’ll be trialing it beginning in 2026. You can read more about the apple itself in the Wild Apple Exhibition Pomological Series, Volume 2, p. 24. Scionwood from Mike and Jason.
