Bowlder Bittersweet
This bittersweet cider apple from Cape Elizabeth, ME (Cumberland County) was discovered and named by Sean Turley. Sean wrote, “This has been my favorite bittersweet for years… Jared [Carr, Cornish Cider] fermented it with some of my other seedling finds a couple of years ago. (I have been harvesting the tree since 2018.) The result was the closest to a French cider I have tasted in the United States, with deep, rich tannins. A cider variety par excellence.” On trial at SCF though not yet fruiting. You can read more about the apple in the Wild Apple Exhibition Pomological Series,Volume 3, p. 23. Scionwood from Sean.
