This is an intense, bittersweet cider apple from Dryden, NY that was discovered and named by Mike Biltonen and Jason Mannka. The small-medium (2-2 1/2”), yellow-and-red colored, dense, hard, late-ripening fruit was shown at the Second Seedling Exhibition and described as having “outstanding quality for cidermaking.” I got to drink the cider at the March Berkshire Apple Meeting (aka Stump Sprouts) a couple of years ago. It was fantastic. I decided that we had to have the tree. You can read more about Manure Pit in the Wild Apple Exhibition Pomological Series,Volume 2, p. 59. Now on trial at SCF. Scionwood from Mike and Jason.
