Pressure Drop is a small, round, dull-red, bittersweet cider fruit that resembles Fameuse and Dabinett in coloring and general appearance. It ripens late and was still hanging on the tree in January, 2024. The spongy fruit tastes like a true cider apple. Cammy described her first bite as “sweet and rosy.” We discovered the multi-stemmed roadside seedling by an abandoned mobile home on the road from Orland to Castine, ME in 2023. We now have it on trial at SCF, and we’re excited about its cider potential. Scionwood from the original tree.
