Yarmouth jersey
A very old seedling tree with bittersweet fruit discovered by Maine fruit explorer, Sean Turley in 2020. It was growing on the side of a hill along Ledge Road on the Yarmouth/North Yarmouth border (Cumberland County, ME). Sean writes, “Yarmouth Jersey is a bittersweet with mild tannins and a bunch of sugar… I have taken care of the tree over the years. It ripens in late September. When Jared [Carr, Cornish Cider] pressed it, he said it smelled like Twizzlers.” On trial at SCF. Scionwood from Sean.
